Wood Moisture Meter Kit
Introducing CEM’s Wood Moisture Meter Kit, the DT-125G. This all inclusive kit has everything a water damage technician needs to make moisture readings and diagnose the problem. At such a great value for such a wide range of accessories makes this meter kit worth considering.
Moisture Meter for Walls
Central to the Kit is the CEM DT-125G meter. This meter has a solid ergonomic grip made of rubber that helps it give its strong durability. Underneath the cap are two 10mm pins that are used to test surfaces for moisture readings, without the need of an electrode. It has man options that can be customised to your experience. Included with the kit is the manual for the meter, which details the different surfaces it can test. For the sake of ease, these different surfaces noted are categorised into different sub groups under the headings of Wood or Building materials (E.G. douglasfir, pine, timber, dry wall, carpet etc). Product photos will include a shot of these surfaces/materials. Additionally, threshold values of wet, damp and dry can be calibrated to your liking. The backlight can be toggled on or off as well. When testing, you can easily change between ambient temperature readings and ambient relative humidity readings. Lastly, this moisture meter has a self-test mode that can help identify accurate calibration. This can be helpful in ensuring your meter is accurate and if it ever does become inaccurate, you can quickly rectify the problem.
Wood Probe
Included is a wood probe that is separate to the meter. To connect it to the meter, the default lid to the meter needs to be switched out with lid that has a port on the top for the electrode. This lid once placed on top connects the meter to this port. The wood probe can then be attached. With an approximate 1m cable, this probe can be used to test any surface with the meter in your hand, making the meter conveniently easy to read. The probe’s pins can be replaced with longer pins that are included in this kit. These pins can range from 10mm to 10cm.
Hammer Action Probe
Likewise, the hammer-action probe can be connected to the meter in the same way, and is included in this kit. The hammer action probe is a heavier probe that can be used to drive its pins deeper into the intended surface (most typically a type of wood). This is great for taking moisture readings deep in a material such as wood, which at times has stronger water retention rates than other materials making deeper readings important. For a demonstration, please watch the included video on this page (coming soon).
Baseboard Probe
The baseboard probe included in this kit allows for moisture readings to be taken in tight spaces , such as sliding under lino or skirting boards without being too invasive to the surface. This can allow for more optimal readings in such places.
Probe Extenders
With this kit comes two approximately 40cm extenders that can be connected to the end of either probes included in this kit. Connecting both can give you a meter long probe which makes it easier to take readings at standing height, making it easier on your back and knees. Additionally these extenders can make it easier to test elevated positions such as ceilings, timber framing and walls. To connect they simply screw in into the top of probe or other extender.
