Portable Dehumidifier

Introducing IAQ Pro’s all-rounder: the Midas 70L Dehumidifier. This portable dehumidifier, compact in size, is able to pull up to 70L of excess moisture from the air and surfaces.

Dehumidifier for small room / Commercial dehumidifier

Because of its compact size, this dehumidifier can be placed in smaller places but packs enough punch to take on full medium sized rooms or more. If you want to reach places otherwise impossible to place a dehumidifier in (such as a void space, ceiling space or inside cabinetry), the Midas 70L’s outlet is designed circularly to work compatibly with ducting or lay-flat. This means that ducting can be easily set up with the Midas to specifically target smaller or closed areas.

This dehumidifier also uses periodic defrosting and purging to maintain the machine and drain collected water. Ensure the outlet hose is placed near a drain or sink. Additionally, for technician’s who worry about over drying, the dehumidifier has a humidistat that can be set. Setting the dehumidifier to a limit of 40% humidity, means that the machine will maintain a humidity of 40% once reached. This helps in situations where over-drying can cause bowing or warping of materials. Also, the Midas can show current humidity, the hours it’s been on since set up as well as it’s total work hours over all.

Easy Storage, compact, portable

This compact dehumidifier is only 71cm high. It’s sturdy handle and big wheels ensure that wheeling this dehumidifier is easy and convenient. Additionally, for easy of storage, this unit is able to stack two high. Often other dehumidifiers have awkward cord wrapping designs that cause the cords to unravel during transport; the Midas completely solves this problem with easy storage at the back of the unit for the power cable and hosing as well. The unit weights 32 kg, so using proper technique, this unit is easy to put into your van for your next job.

Lastly, metal latches near the bottom of the dehumidifier on either side, allows for easy access to the internals of the machine. Unlatching both sides and pulling up the front allows the gas-lifting struts to lift and keep the panel open, for easy internal cleaning and maintenance.

Dehumidifier Mould

This dehumidifier can help mitigate mould by removing excess moisture in the air. Mould needs food, oxygen and moisture in order to grow and without any one of these conditions, the mould cannot spread. Dehumidifiers therefore are instrumental in preventing mould growth. If you have mould growth already, it is important to clean the area of mould before carrying out drying with a dehumidifier.

Perfect for Water Damage

Have you or your client suffered a water damage event recently? Water leak through the ceiling or a burst flexi-hose under the sink? The IAQ Pro Midas 70L is specifically designed to take moisture out of the environment and expel it down its drainage hose. Running over a long period of time will help slowly remove moisture out of every nook and cranny. The Midas achieves this by sucking in moisture-ladened air and running it through freezing coils. These freezing coils bring the air to dew point, bringing out the moisture that was in the air. This is collected by the tray and expelled down its drainage hose. It takes the cold air and puts it through some heating, to increase it’s ability to hold more moisture and sends it out of the machine. This air then collects more moisture before going through the IAQ Pro Midas 70L Dehumidifier again, the cycle repeating. Combining this with air movement created from our air movers such as the IAQ Pro Ventus or Nova helps expediate the process of drying your flooded area.  Using ducting to target void spaces with the Midas is ideal for drying water damaged ceilings. Perfect for water damage restoration services / technicians, and even DIY enthusiasts.

Product FAQ

How much water does the IAQ Pro Midas 70L remove per day?

The Midas 70L removes up to 70 litres of water a day, rated to the AHAM standard at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. Real-world figures depend on how warm and wet the room is: the hotter and more humid the air, the closer you get to 70 litres; a cool, half-dry room will yield less. For a flooded medium-sized room or a whole lower floor, one Midas running continuously for a few days is the usual setup.

What size room will the Midas 70L dehumidifier dry?

The Midas 70L is sized for a full medium-sized room or more. It is compact (71 cm high) so it fits into smaller spaces, but it moves 6.6 cubic metres of air a minute (235 CFM), which is enough to dry a whole room rather than one corner. For larger floors, or when ducting into a void, run two units or pair it with an air mover such as the IAQ Pro Zephyr axial fan to push wet air towards the dehumidifier.

Does the Midas 70L need to be emptied?

No. The Midas 70L has a built-in condensate pump that purges collected water out through its drain hose automatically, so there is no bucket to empty. A 5 metre water hose is supplied; run it to a sink, floor drain or outside. The pump will push water up to 45 cm (18 inches) vertically on the way to the drain. Press the P (purge) button before moving the unit so nothing spills in the van.

Can I duct the Midas 70L into a ceiling or wall cavity?

Yes. The Midas 70L has a round 100 mm (4 inch) exhaust outlet designed to take flexible duct or lay-flat ducting. That lets you push warm, dry air directly into a ceiling space, wall cavity, under a floor or inside cabinetry, which is the standard way to dry a water-damaged ceiling. Leave about 30 cm of clearance behind and beside the unit so the intake is not starved of air.

Can I set a target humidity so I don’t over-dry timber floors?

Yes. The Midas 70L has an adjustable humidistat that can be set anywhere between 26% and 90% relative humidity, and the unit holds that level once it is reached. Setting it to around 40% RH, for example, keeps the room dry without cupping or warping timber floors, skirtings and cabinetry. The display shows the set point on the left and the current room humidity on the right, so you can see how far along the job is.

What is an LGR dehumidifier and is the Midas 70L one?

The Midas 70L is an LGR (low grain refrigerant) dehumidifier, the type used by water damage restoration technicians. Air is drawn across refrigerated coils and cooled to dew point so the moisture condenses out, then the dry air is reheated before it leaves the unit so it can absorb more moisture from the room. It runs on R290 refrigerant and defrosts its coils automatically and shows a defrost indicator while it does, so it keeps working in cooler rooms.

Will the Midas 70L run off a normal power point?

Yes. The Midas 70L runs on 240 V / 50 Hz mains power and draws 3.5 amps (about 860 W), so it plugs into a standard 10 amp power point. It is SAA approved for Australia. Because the draw is modest, it is practical to run a dehumidifier and an air mover on the same circuit on most domestic jobs.

How heavy is the Midas 70L and is it easy to move?

The Midas 70L weighs 32 kg (about 40 kg packed) and stands 71 cm high. It has big rear wheels and a solid handle, so it wheels easily through doorways and into a van, and it stacks two high for storage. The power cord and drain hose stow at the back of the unit, so they stay put in transit instead of unravelling.

Will the Midas 70L work in a cold room?

The Midas 70L operates between 5°C and 38°C. In cooler rooms it will periodically pause to defrost its coils (the defrost light comes on) and then resume drying by itself. Like any refrigerant dehumidifier it pulls the most water in warm, humid conditions, so in winter it helps to close the room up and let the unit and any air movers warm the space as they run.

What is the difference between the Midas 70L and the Zenith 45L?

The Midas 70L removes up to 70 litres a day; the IAQ Pro Zenith 45L is the smaller, lighter unit in the same range and removes up to 45 litres a day. Choose the Midas for flooded rooms, whole floors and ducted cavity drying where you want the job done faster; choose the Zenith when the job is smaller, the space is tight, or you need the lightest unit to carry.

Can I hire the Midas 70L instead of buying it?

Yes. Agile Equipment hires commercial LGR dehumidifiers, including the IAQ Pro range, out of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Hire is arranged by phone on 1300 092 647 rather than online; there is a 2-day minimum and you are only charged for 4 of every 7 days. If you are drying out after a flood more than once or twice a year, buying usually works out cheaper, and the current price and stock are shown on this page.

What warranty comes with the Midas 70L?

The Midas 70L comes with a 12 month parts warranty from the manufacturer, on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Routine maintenance of the condensate pump (flushing the reservoir and drain line) is not covered by warranty, but a faulty pump is. New equipment can also be returned within 7 days of delivery in its original condition and packaging under our change-of-mind policy, as set out in our Returns and Refunds Policy.
